Safe Summer Streets Basketball League – The 14-team Summer Basketball League for teens is complete as we crowned the 2015 divsion champions last week on Championship night, which closed out the on-site Summer program. In the Girls division it was the Lady Cavs besting the Lady Zags by a score of 40-33. Destinee Morris (32) led the Lady Cavs while Fatima St. Hilaire (15) led the Lady Zags. In the Intermediate Boys division the Hoyas needed overtime to defeat Looney Tunes by a score of 54-52. Raymond Baez (24) and Mozell Johnken (22) led the Hoyas and Looney Tunes respectively. In the Senior Boys division it was the Horsemen besting the Bullets by a score of 57-53. Warfa Abdullah (20) led the Horsemen while the Bullets were led by Francis DePina (20). Congratulations to Freddie PePina (Hoyas), Daniel Sims (Looney Tunes), Charles Washington (Horsemen) Fatima St. Hilaire (Lady Zags), Destinee Morris (Lady Cavs), and Francis DePina (Bullets) on their selection for league awards. Registration for our Fall Athletic programs will take place on 9/9 and 9/10 and will include Intramural and All-Star Floor Hockey, Intramural Flag Football, Cross-fit, Gymnastics, and our High School Basketball Clinics. Fall Program Re-Opening – The Club will re-open for after school programming on 9/8 at 2:00 p.m. Members ages 5-12 will be able to take part in programming from 2:00-6:00 p.m. while evening and Saturday enrichment programs will require pre-registration. Please note that the Club‘s after-school program will be closing the first Friday of each month beginning in October for Professional Development days.
